Kiel imparts a special feeling of life on the water during all seasons of the year.  The expanse of the fjord shapes the maritime atmosphere. The highlight of summer is Kiel Week (KielerWoche).
This sailing festival, the largest in the world, is held for ten days in June, and brings together top athletic performances with the largest summer festival in Northern Europe.

The festival serves as a meeting point for the best sailors of every continent, and, at the same time, as a social stage for diplomats, politicians and scientists. We will happily provide you with further information regarding sightseeing opportunities in and around Kiel.

The Hanseatic city of Lübeck is both beautiful and historical. The houses of the historic district and the St. Mary's Church (Marienkirche), with its gothic arches, are well worth a visit, as is Lübeck's most famous example of architecture, the Holsten Gate (Holstentor). Lübeck is the home town of the Nobel Prize winners Thomas Mann and Willy Brandt. Just a stone's throw away lies the borough of Travemünde, where you may board a ferry to Sweden, Finland or the Baltic countries. There are also various casinos that may be visited here. We would be glad provide you with further information regarding sightseeing opportunities.
