Principle Investigator: Prof. Dr. med. Christian Sina
Our Mission Statement
Developing advanced nutritional strategies for patients. Moving away from one-size-fits-all approaches and shifting to data-driven precision and personalized nutritional therapies. Evolving innovative concepts include digital therapeutics, next-generation nutraceuticals, and tailored microbiome-derived therapies to improve the lives of many patients, especially those with irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal cancer.
Our approach
Our research aims to provide the best possible nutritional therapy individually adapted to each patient to combat diseases early and effectively. For this purpose, we use state-of-the-art technologies to study in detail the interindividual differences in people's metabolic and immune responses to food and food components.
We can provide new insights into food hypersensitivity, irritable bowel syndrome, and inflammatory bowel disease pathophysiology using confocal laser endomicroscopy. We investigate dietary and disease-specific metabolite signatures Through our metabolomics unit to identify and validate new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Multi-omics analyses are performed in alliance with our Mircobiomics group. Under the university's Center for Artificial Intelligence umbrella, we are developing data-driven nutrition concepts as part of digital therapeutics by integrating digital and biological markers. Clinical trials are conducted closely with the 1st Medical Department and Comprehensive Center for Inflammation Medicine (CCIM) at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein.
